Alpino

The glorious branch of the Italian military called Alpini has long been the pride and joy of Turin and the region of Piedmont. This famous Turinese chocolate treat is dedicated to the beloved "penne nere"- or "black plumes" - so called for the black feathered hat that distinguishes their uniform. The Alpino.

Conceived by Peyrano in 1922, this chocolate is famous not only for its flavour, but also for the fact that the recipe for its liqueur cream, has remained a secret over the years, carefully guarded in the firm’s workshop in Corso Moncalieri, on the banks of the Po in Turin.

It can only be revealed that the alpino is made in a little silver mould whose inside has been coated with Gianduia chocolate. The hollow obtained is then filled with the liqueur cream and sealed with a thin covering.
