Ravera

Let’s begin with a page from history: Napoleon stopped in Cherasco in the province of Cuneo and on April 28, 1796 the Armistice of Cherasco was signed, according to which the King of Sardinia Vittorio Amedeo III, having lost to General Bonaparte at Millesimo and Mondovi, ceded Nice, Savoy, Tenda, and Broglio to the French Republic.

For the occasion, the local nuns prepared some excellent chocolate rings to garnish the Emperor's table. These ciambelle – known as the “ciambelle dell’Imperatore” are still a jewel in the crown of the Cioccolateria Ravera.

Ravera’s other specialities include: Chocolate salame, spiced pralines, chocolate bars with Cayenne pepper or cinnamon, and the baci di Ravera (kisses), made by hand according to the traditional recipe that requires a perfect blend of dark chocolate and hazelnuts from the Lange cooked slowly over a low flame.
