Upper Langa
Home of the Tonda Gentile
“Tonda e gentile” – round and refined: this is not in reference to a pretty girl, but to the Piedmontese hazelnut, the queen of the Upper Langa, the hilly area that stretches from Alba towards the border with Liguria.
The hazelnut capital is the town of Cortemilia, but you can also experience the greenery of the hazelnut groves that, together with rows of Moscato and Dolcetto vineyards, characterise the hillsides of the Belbo, Bormida, and Uzzone valleys.
Walking along the trails of the Tonda Gentile means following the ancient Salt Roads: this is an unforgettable experience, full of suggestive views and scents.
You will be overwhelmed by the scents and aromas wafting through the air in any season, especially in September when the hazelnut harvest takes place. When nature decides that the moment has come for everyone to taste the goodness of the Tonda Gentile.
