Alba

The city of Nutella

In Alba, the aroma of the Nutella produced in the Ferrero plants can be smelt while strolling along Via Maestra, the main street of the city: an open-air boutique of prestigious products typical of this area, which has always been an attraction for natives and tourists alike. This street leads to the Piazza Duomo, which during the month of September become the stage for the historic parade of the various quarters and the “Palio degli Asini”, when donkeys are raced around the town.

Alba also knows how to conquer the palate with other specialities that make it one of the taste capitals of Italy. Beginning with the wine produced in the vineyards of the Langhe, which offer true treasures of gourmet cuisine: from Barolo to Barbaresco, from Barbera to Dolcetto, to Moscato.

The restaurants in the city and the surrounding hillsides offer recipes that combine elegance and tradition, enhanced during the autumn by the famous slices of Alba’s white truffles, the famous Tuber Magnatum Pico. The National White Truffle Fair of Alba, inaugurated in 1928, celebrates this speciality every autumn.
